Steroid Anesthetic Injection

Epidural steroid injections for back and neck pain have been used for many years. It is one of the most common procedures done on the spine for back pain. It involves inserting a small needle into the epidural space and injecting a steroid. With degeneration of the discs, pain will often occur and this pain is often secondary to inflammation.  The steroid that is injected decreases or eliminates the inflammation and therefore decreases or eliminates the pain.
